Top Indian Bikes Segment-wise ( Part I )

Hello Friends,
Today, we will Study top Indian Bikes by catagory wise i.e. in the category 100cc, 110cc, 125cc, 150cc, 180cc, 200+cc.

Well, as an Indian I know what we always Hunt for, yes its Mileage and Reliability and Resell Value. So, Keeping these in mind I prepared this list for You. Well, I am also considering the Brand Value and Price of the bike. So Lets know which bikes are ahead in their Category..

For 100cc Bikes:

Before Sorting them, lets have a look on every bikes that comes under this segment.

1) Hero Splendor (Pro).
2) Hero CD Deluxe
3) Hero CD Dawn.
4) Hero Passion (Pro)
5) Hero Splendor NXG.

6) Bajaj Platina 100.
7) Bajaj Discover DTS-Si 100.

8) TVS Star Sports

9) Yamaha Crux

*Honda has not yet entered into 100cc segment.

Now, we have to Sort the Vehicles in their Performance and Overal Ratings. My list will be like Follows:

5) Bajaj Platina : Well, If You strictly consider about the Mileage and Budget and compromising with Power, Style, SelfStart Option then this Bike is for You. It costs around Rs.44,000 on road. Mileage is 75+kmpl.

4) Hero CD Deluxe: Its just the sibling of Splendor, it is as effective as Splendor in terms of Performance and Reliability, but the success point is its Price. Its on road Price at Delhi is in the range of Rs.43,000 to Rs.47,000. Mileage is 65+kmpl for sure. Only the power is little bit less.

3) TVS Star Sports: Well, If You want to Purchase a Bike with a tight budget, then this one is for You. The OnRoad Price is something around Rs.44,000. It will give You good Mileage of 70+kmpl for sure and its style is really best if we compare with its price. It gives Extended Warranty of 5 Years too. So, its a Economic Vehicle.

2) Bajaj Discover DTS-Si 100 : Well, If You want average Power with Good Mileage and Bajaj Look, then you can have your hand on this Bike. As per my Personal Openion, its a Cost Effective Bike or You can say a total Value For Money Bike. It comes at around Rs.47,000 on road at Delhi with Self start and Cast Wheel. It will give You a healthy mileage of 75+kmpl for sure for first 3 years. After 3 years its mileage may Drop, but within that period, you must have gained a good amount of money in terms of Fuel savings, so it is a very good option if you are a daily Commuter who runs around 2000 km a month. Don't think about Resale Value because you will already get more than the same in terms of Fuel Savings. :)

1) Hero Splendor: We don't need to discuss much about its outstanding Reliability and Resell Value. Its on-road Price is in the range of  Rs.48,748 to Rs.51,977 depending on the Model i.e. Kick-Spoke OR Kick-Cast OR Self-Spoke OR Self-Cast models. This Price is at Delhi Showrooms.

Here is a long list in this segment because Indians are now looking for Power,, :) ha ha ha .... :P Actually, Bike market is now becoming more Violent with Powerful Bikes and Indian are ready to sell their old first Bike and trying to go for a New and more Powerful bike. Hence 125 cc segment is getting Hotter. But the Problem is Neither Company able to provide both Power and Mileage at the same Machine. Hence this segment is not yet penetrated the market widely. But, recently Launched "Bajaj Discover 125 ST" which seems to be a good option for the YoungiStan,, :) Another thing is that the New 2012 Glamour is also giving a Good Mileage than previous models, probably Hero started a new policy of providing better Fuel efficiency. Lets leave these things for a dedicated 125cc Article, and lets know our list:

I am going to list the Bikes as per the user Requirements:

0) If you need decent look with good mileage and reliable engine with Brand name, You can go for "Honda Dream Yuga 110" . Although it is not yet Proved in Indian Market, but still you can take a chance.

1) If You want Good Power with Compromising Mileage and Resell Value: Then the best option is "Yamaha SS 125". It will give you a decent mileage of 50-55 kmpl mileage but a very good power. Price is Rs. 58,000 on road.

2) If You want Good Power, Mileage, Style and Compromising with Durability then "Bajaj Discover 125 ST" is the best option. It has segment highest power, Good mileage of 62+kmpl. Nice Styling but the only question is on the Reliability.  Its on-road Price is Rs. 58,000 for base model at Delhi.

3)  If You want Good Mileage, Good Pickup, Good Resell Value, Brand Name and You can compromise with "Power at High RPM", Vibration issue and "Sporty Look" then You should go for "Honda Shine". It has all goods except Vibration Problem, Thin Rear Wheel(which tends to skid), Look(It looks like a office goer). Its price is Rs.63000 on road without any acessories.

4) If You want a bike with Decent Power, Good Fuel Efficiency, No Vibration Issue, Good Resell Value, Sporty Look then "Hero Glamour" or "Glamour PGMFI" is the best option. Mileage of 70kmpl @ Highway @ 40kmph speed. City Mileage is 55-60kmpl. Mileage at High Speeds like 70+kmph is around 50-55 kmpl. No Vibration till 70kmph Speed. Its my Personal Choice on 125cc Segment. If You consider more Fuel Efficiency, Go for "PGM-FI" model, that will give you 80kmpl mileage on Highway but it will cost you another 10000 bucks extra.Well, the plane Glamour model comes at on road price of 58,000 at delhi. So, its upto You whether you go for Simply Glamour or Glamour PGM-FI. :)

5) Finally, If You are a damn Rash Driver and wants to Drive Your Bike for Power and Style. Then You can Go for Stunner or Ignitor. But I Personally would like to suggest you to go for a 150cc Bike instead.

Well, this was our 1st Part, in the Next Section, we will see about 150+cc Bikes....

Thank You
